An RTS for LOTR fans? Sounds good to me.
Check out some of the videos, this is an impressive looking RTS:

Official Movie 8 is a good one to watch.

| Better bring your macs for some gaming! |
|
DaMiZ writes "For all of you who say there is no such thing as real Mac gaming, these guys have went out of their way to prove that you can have a hell of a lot of fun with a Mac!
http://www.lamerkatz.com/webvoid/issue13/1.shtml
(Be sure to go through all the pages to see all the games)
"Why should people who got suckered in by Apple’s “switch” commercials be forced to live a life without games? Why should the children of dim-witted people, who only bought a Mac because they were obsessed with how “cute” it was, be further punished by not being able to play games with their PC-using friends?
Well, I say enough is enough! I’ve created this guide to help all the unfortunate people who dream of playing fun new games with their Mac. Note that I said "with" and not "on," because I’m obviously not talking about software games here (that’s something you’ll need to talk to the game companies about).
What I’ve done is compiled a list of several exciting games you can play, quite literally, WITH your Mac hardware! Finally, you could play games alongside your estranged PC-owning buddies! And I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to play when you show them the games, too. "

| What needs to be brought? (Servers, hubs, cables) |
|
EBound writes "Ok, so the LAN's a week away, wondering what we're going to have for hardware. As in WaveMaker has his switch still right?
What I'm wondering is, I have my [KAG]Server that I could bring to help Ace out with some server action, so should I bring it? Here are the specs:
850 MHz AMD Athlon
Abit KA7-100
256 MB PC-133
Voodoo 3000 32 MB AGP
20 Gigger
WinXP Pro
I think this baby could handle some games if Ace's is going to be just doing Quake3. What do you think Ace? Along with games this baby is full of patches for games, programs I use, and cracks for anything I have installed. This would be good so that no downloading of patches or anything would be needed. All I would need possibly is a video and peripheral switch like you have Ace. Otherwise I can do it the classic way ;)
Also do we need any extra cables, monitors, video cards, anything that anyone needs? We should post them here. I could use a GeForce4 for the weekend myself ;)

Anonymous writes "This kinda thing has a sort of Hippie feel to it (not really but since I dogged on the last free Internet article I feel obligated to say that) but I find it interseting. This sounds like it would entail some trust parameters and again I wonder who's paying for all of this equipment but it sounds like they are making this work in some citys. This sounds very similar to how the oringal regional networks started (i.e. MRNET way before it was Onvoy). They started as club of people who voluteered to configure routers and wire closets etc.
Check out the details at InfoWorld
Peace, Love, Linux and Free Wireless Internet. What a wonderful world it would be.
